The public is invited to comment on three public art proposals created for Boise’s Linen District. Public comments will be collected from August 18th-September 6th via the Arts & History Blog as well as locations in the Linen District and Boise City Hall where the actual proposals are on rotating display (contact our office to find out where). The selection panel will consider comments, review proposals and choose one project to commission for Grove Street. Your input is welcome!
I feel strongly that the district needs not one, but two iconic gateway pieces to act as bookends to the Linen District on Grove Street. In honor of the district’s signature historic anchor of the American Linen Supply Company building I propose creating a whimsically oversize antique style iron resting upright upon a freshly pressed, white stack of linens. The second is an identical but reverse facing sculpture to site at the opposite end of the district.
