The Boise City Department of Arts & History (A&H), with
support from the Boise Officemax Community Fund, presents LISTEN -
a free oral history training program for children and teens from
age 9 to 18 years.
The goal of the LISTEN program is to build a stronger community
by connecting our youth with older generations and to help foster
appreciation for their contributions and
experiences.
LISTEN training sessions are held at various community centers,
library branches, and other public venues and by appointment, such
as for school groups or other organizations through October 2012.
Sessions last two hours and will provide basic training for
children and teens to conduct interviews with family members and
seniors in their community. Download May 5, 2012 flyer.
Thanks to the support from Officemax Boise Community Fund,
A&H is also able to offer digital oral history recording and
transcription equipment that community members can check out at no
cost.
Space is limited, so please pre-register for the program.
Children between ages 9 and 12 should have a parent or adult
guardian attend the program with them. If you make an appointment
for a group training, please make sure to provide adequate adult
supervision.
Please contact Amy Fackler with questions or to register for one
of the training sessions listed here or to schedule a group
presentation (433-5675 / afackler@cityofboise.org).
