Mayor's Awards for Excellence in Arts & History
The Mayor's Awards for Excellence
in Arts & History are presented by the Mayor every two
years. Those nominated for an award must have demonstrated
distinguished service, creative accomplishment, a record of
publication, presentation, or research that enhances the artistic,
historic, and broader life of the City of Boise. The awards
began in 1986 and over 80 people have been honored since its
inception.
National Arts Program: City of Boise Employee Art
Show
The National Arts Program® is designed to give all artists, at
all levels of skill, an uninhibited opportunity to exhibit their
work in a professional manner to compete for cash prizes and
continuing education scholarships. Sponsored by The National Arts
Program Foundation in support and cooperation with the City of
Boise Department of Arts and History, the exhibit is judged by
professional artists and visual art professionals in Amateur,
Intermediate, Professional and Youth classifications. And it is
free to all.

Thrill The World Boise 2011
Thrill the World is an annual
worldwide simultaneous dance of Michael Jackson's "Thriller."
The department began hosting the local event in 2009 and it has
grown steadily each year. In 2011 we had 164 community members
