Our history staff is responsible to field public inquiries relating to the history of Boise. Staff, interns, and volunteers help pursue all avenues to answer questions. Partnerships and contacts are maintained with other agencies such as the Boise Public Library, Idaho State Historical Society and Preservation Idaho to provide you with the most accurate responses. Between the many professional historians, librarians and resources in our city, most questions received are answered within two working days.

If you have historical inquiries first consult our frequently asked questions (FAQ) list.  If your question is not there or you want more information, please feel free to contact us. In addition, research assistance can also be found through the Boise Public Library's Ask a Librarian service.

The Idaho State Historical Society Reference Series  is easy to browse and covers a wide range of historical topics relating to Idaho's past. The Idaho State Archives has an online digital collection of Historic Photographs.

Idaho Landscapes, the bi-annual full-color magazine, is the only publication of popular scholarship about Idaho.  Produced by The Center for Idaho History and Politics, Boise State University, Idaho State University and the Idaho State Historical Society.
