Civic Engagement

The Department of Arts & History provides opportunities for professionals and the public to participate on topics relevant to the cultural endeavors.  We offer opportunities for conversation and collaboration regarding artistic expression, organizational capacity-building, preservation of heritage resources, and more -- all of which strengthens understanding of the meaning and relevance of these resources.  This reinforces the commitment of the City of Boise and our Department to public engagement at every level.

"Civic engagement means working to make a difference in the civic life of our communities and developing the combination of knowledge, skills, values and motivation to make that difference.  It means promoting the quality of life in a community, through both political and non-political processes."  From:  Civic Responsibility and Higher Education, edited by Thomas Ehrlich, published by Oryx Press, 2000
