Art in Transit: Bus Wrap and Posters
Local artists Jason Sievers and
Ward Hooper created ValleyRide bus wraps focusing on Boise culture,
along with a series of original poster designs celebrating iconic
images from neighborhoods, nature and cultural environments. Bus
stops featured posters, which are also produced in a smaller size
and are still available for sale at City Hall Department of Arts
and History office. Proceeds from the poster sales are split
between the City and the artist. The City's portion of the poster
revenue is supporting this opportunity for another Idaho
artist.
Poetry In Motion
Boise City Department of Arts and History,
ValleyRide, Boise State University and The Cabin, in conjunction
with Poetry Society of America, completed two years of Poetry in
Motion®. This project placed local poet's artwork inside city buses
in the space usually displaying commercial advertising. The exhibit
featured poems written by Idaho poets, as well as one poem used in
other Poetry in Motion® projects sponsored by the Poetry Society of
America in Chicago, Portland, New York and Boston. The local and
national poets selected had posters designed by professional and
BSU graphic design students: Mike Landa; Dustin Davis; Beth
Bricker; Tyler Cenarrusa; Nicole Coleman; Lindsey Wagner; Amy Howa,
The posters were displayed in 2007 and 2008. Copies are available
at the Arts and History office.
