Melissa Maxey, Cultural Sites Assistant
Melissa Maxey brings varied skills, including her experience as an events planner, curatorial assistant and cultural collections cataloger, to the Boise City Department of Arts & History's Cultural Sites team. As Cultural Sites Assistant, Melissa assists with customer service, programs, special events, sales and tours, in support of visitors to the James Castle House. Melissa also helps cultivate relationships within the arts community and bring awareness to the value of cultural sites in the City of Boise.
A recent graduate of Boise State University’s Bachelor of Fine Arts program, she has long been a familiar face within the Boise arts scene. A common thread through her experiences has been to cultivate relationships with artists and galleries. She has done this while managing several social media accounts, installing cultural arts exhibits, cataloging and coordinating personal art collections, as well as handling administrative functions. Melissa is a lifelong Treasure Valley resident, who enjoys exploring art in many forms and in many places. In her spare time, she works on several long-term research projects that focus on the intersection of feminism in historic figures and their native cultures, applying them to various art forms.
