Stephanie Milne-Lane, Archivist
Stephanie Milne-Lane identifies, preserves, and makes accessible Boise’s historical record. As the Arts & History Archivist, she believes that a historical perspective possesses value in the everyday operations of the City of Boise and in the lives of those who call Boise home. She is continually inspired by how the past provides context for the future. Having earned a Master’s in Applied Historical Research from Boise State University and traveled across the country as a research historian for four and half years, Stephanie brings a thoughtful and detailed perspective to Arts & History. Stephanie will earn her Master’s in Library and Information Science (MLIS) from the University of Washington in June 2018.
“I believe history is a public possession. It builds community, which can flourish when history is preserved and shared.”
An avid reader and runner, two of Stephanie’s prized possessions are her library card and running shoes. When she isn’t traveling back in time to 18th century England with Elizabeth Bennett, you can find her running along the Boise River. She is a graduate of the Western Archives Institute and serves as a member of the Governor appointed Idaho State Historic Records Advisory Board (SHRAB).
“I strive to connect people to primary sources in meaningful and innovative ways.”
