Opportunity

The City of Boise’s Department of Arts & History invites artists to apply for the opportunity to create or supply artwork for the 2024 Traffic Box Program. Selected artists will be paid $1,000 to create or supply original artwork to be digitized and fabricated into a vinyl wrap. Artists may use original, existing artwork or create new, original artwork which could consist of illustration, painting, digital images, textiles, mosaic, photography, photographs of original artwork, and more.

Artists will be selected by a selection panel, and the panel may select up to 12 artists or artist teams to implement their design concept. Selection panelists may give preference to artists that are not currently represented in the Traffic Box Collection.

Concept Prompt

Artist applications should respond to this concept prompt: How can water renewal and responsible resource management help us achieve greater equity, affordability, and access?

Potential Locations

12 traffic boxes in the River-Myrtle area of Boise, Idaho, are eligible for re-wrap in 2023. Artists selected should be prepared to design a wrap on either a single large box or both a large and small box on one pedestal.

Eligibility

Local artists are strongly encouraged to apply. Opportunity open to applicants of all ages with parent or guardian acting as contract representative for applicants under 18 years of age.
