“Headwaters” is a sculptural, stainless steel, fountain which uses three elemental forms derived from scientific data to depict the headwaters of the Boise River. The first element is snow water equivalent (SWE). SWE is illustrated by the 24 slices that make up the body of the sculpture. The second element is streamflow rates. This is demonstrated by the spiral formed by the edges of the three-sided pieces as well as the waterflow rate cascading down the sides. The third element is the ruggedness of the Sawtooth Mountain range reflected in the height of the sculpture and sharp edge contours.
