These bas relief installations, sculpted from raw clay and fired in the artist's studio in Cordova, Alaska, are inspired by the environment of a heron and cormorant rookery. A rookery refers to a colony where large numbers of birds nest together in a concentrated area each year. The ceramic pieces are installed on six columns of the shade structure, which symbolize trees. The artwork captures the birds at various stages of their nesting cycles, inviting viewers to appreciate the beauty and dynamics of this natural habitat.
