Missy Cory enjoys the intersections of art and science. She's intrigued by the micro/macrocosm, and how each is perceived on both physical and spiritual levels. This work specifically focuses on the transformative effect of experienced moments and places, and how these shape us. Cory collects site-specific photographs, microscopic samples, and drawings - most recently from geologically significant locations in Idaho, Iceland and Sweden. These are combined with encaustic wax painting and printmaking and further integrated with imagery of biological structures and aerial topography.
