Originally installed in front of Art Attack Gallery on South 8th Street, this sculpture by John Powell has become an enduring landmark in Boise's cultural history. Created by Powell in the early 1980s, the piece was part of a broader wave of progressive art in the region, exemplified by Powell’s innovative approach to both sculpture and mixed media works. The sculpture was a gift from David Airhart, who owned the Art Attack Gallery, a key player in Boise’s emerging art scene. After Airhart moved away in 1992, the piece remained in place, but due to a lack of maintenance and subsequent vandalism, its condition deteriorated. With support from the Department of Arts and History (A & H), the sculpture is now restored and preserved as a valuable part of Boise’s public art collection.
