Windows into Boise is a sneak peek into all the wonderful aspects of Boise that make it an incredible place to live. The piece was created by drawing the design with fine-liner pens, before scanning it and coloring it digitally to make it look like it was made from stained glass. The prompt in creating this art box was to illustrate how responsible water and resource management can increase equity, affordability, and access. The artist wanted to highlight the ways the community benefits from these natural resources. All the scenes depicted rely on well-managed water systems and responsible land use. Sockeye salmon and the Greenbelt are iconic local images. Both depend on snowmelt to maintain shallow, fast, clear water rivers, critical for many species of fish. The Boise foothills are protected through responsible trail use which limits disruptions and preserves beauty. The Boise Farmers Market provides access to local food requiring healthy soil to grow. We all benefit from responsible resource management.
