When the Idanha was first constructed in 1900, a simple canopy structure covered the entrances on Main and 10th street. Historical photographs of the original canopies, taken down long ago, and the unique turret forms at the corners of the building inspired the artists to create a new canopy design for the Idanha. The steel, neon, and canvas structures are unmistakably contemporary yet compatible with the dynamic, historic architecture.
