The James Castle House is thrilled to announce, Where Art Begins: The People and Places of the Historic Artists’ Homes and Studios Program, an exhibition featuring more than sixty stunning photographs of artists in their creative sanctuaries. From Georgia O’Keeffe in her New Mexico ranch and Norman Rockwell in his Massachusetts studio to James Castle at home in Idaho, these images offer a glimpse into the intimate settings that shaped their lives, creative processes, and artworks.

This exhibition places the James Castle House within a broader conversation about preserving the creative spaces of American artists as essential landmarks of the nation’s cultural heritage and enduring sources of inspiration.

The community is invited to view Where Art Begins at the James Castle House (5015 Eugene Street, Boise) during open hours, Thursday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and during residency events. For more information: jamescastlehouse.org

This exhibition, organized by the Historic Artists’ Homes and Studios Program, is made possible through funding from the Wyeth Foundation for American Art, with additional support from the Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens. Printing and framing of the exhibition images were partially funded by Sohn Fine Art.
