Cameron Stites-Stevens, Cultural Sites Program Assistant
Cameron Stites-Stevens (he/him) supports programming and public engagement at the Erma Hayman House. With a background in education, environmental advocacy, and cultural storytelling, he works to connect community members with Boise’s diverse histories through accessible and engaging experiences.
Originally from the Mojave Desert in Southern California, Cameron moved to Idaho from Berea, Kentucky, where he earned a degree in Communication, Peace and Social Justice from Berea College. Passionate about bridge-building and dialogue, he is especially interested in proactive interracial and multicultural communication and believes that empowering people to share their stories strengthens communities.
Before joining the Erma Hayman House, Cameron worked as an environmental educator, human resources team member, archaeologist, and 8th grade English Language Arts teacher. Across all these roles, he has been driven by a desire to help others find and use their voices, especially those whose stories are often overlooked. At the Erma Hayman House, he hopes to expand programming for youth in the Boise area, coordinating field trips and hands-on activities that explore history, art, and writing through the city’s cultural sites.
Outside of work, Cameron is frequently (and willingly) dragged on borderline-insane outdoor adventures by his friends, who insist it builds character. He can be found running in the foothills or scouting out Boise’s best coffee shops, a hobby his former students never let him live down. Equal parts nature nerd and people person, he’s just as happy geeking out over wildflowers and fisheries as he is sharing stories over a strong cup of coffee.
