Christina Wilkens, Education and Public Programs Manager

Christina Wilkens is an innovative, arts advocate who believes art is a universal language that every person should have access to explore. With 17 years experience teaching K-12 art in Title I schools, she understands the power art holds to connect learning, transform lives, build empathy, and create more just and joyful communities. 

As the Education and Public Programs Manager, Christina is passionate about equity-driven arts education and creating access to high-quality community cultural experiences. Christina guides and oversees the strategy, development, and evaluation of Arts & History’s education and public programs to align with the city’s mission and meet department goals. She is responsible for training and collaborating with department staff to implement community-first educational public programs and related materials that highlight Arts & History’s resources. Additionally, Christina also manages volunteers, docents, guides, and interns. 

Previously, Christina served as Curator of Education at Boise Art Museum, an instructional coach at Nampa School District, an art educator, and an artist. She holds a Master of Education from the National Hispanic University, a Bachelor of Arts with a minor in Spanish from Montana State University, and studied abroad in Salamanca, Spain. 

Born and raised in Montana, Christina holds a deep love for nature and open skies. While she trades skiing for mountain biking with the shifting seasons, Christina is always on the hunt for a good cappuccino, spontaneous dance party, or the perfect houseplant to add to her ever-growing collectionAbove all, Christina’s purpose is rooted in building a life of curiosity and compassion for her three boys.
