Join us on Thursday, July 3, 6-8 pm, at MING Studios around the theme of: Alchemizing Compassion from Here
Join us for a unique evening of collaborative gameplay and imaginative thinking. This Thursday’s theme—Alchemizing Compassion from Here—was sparked by a returning player who chose “alchemy” as our starting point.
When asked how to connect that with an idea they might have for our community, a friend shared, "The change and exchange of our lives and neighborhoods each year as we strive for communal health and resilience. The alchemy of growing shade where there was once a sidewalk, of having pride in spite of hate, of art despite a crystallization of grief."
New SUM is about overcoming zero-sum scenarios. Coming to the table with an idea we have for our community, and sharing the first challenge that comes to mind. We have no shortage of challenges. This Thursday may be a moment of figuring out how to hold onto compassionate ideas we would like to see enacted here.
This isn’t just gameplay—it’s a space to imagine what if and to explore what's next. Guided by scenario prompts, we’ll test ideas, refine them, and build on shared visions. Whether you’re a returning player or jumping in for the first time, this night is designed to stretch possibilities and ground them in dialogue.
Bring your curiosity, your creative spark, and your “what if we tried…” mindset. This is one of only two Game Nights during the show—hope to see you there!
About The Ecogeoglyphic Observatory
The Ecogeoglyphic Observatory is a post-disciplinary eco-collective exploring the Boise Valley's historic, present, and future relationship with development. In our current exhibition, RIPARIA, we are embracing the flood plain, the wetland, the intermittent stream, and the river as guides who assist us in seeing how to better live in relation to each other and to the vital dynamics of the living earth. This installation-based show features found and repurposed objects; maps; sculpture; photography; textile works; miniatures; sound art; and more. We hope to see you at the opening!
