Opportunity

The City of Boise’s Department of Arts & History invites artists to apply for the opportunity to create artwork in digital format for vinyl mural installations at the Erma Hayman House. Each selected artist will be paid $4,500 to create original artwork, either born digital or rendered in digital format, and fabricated onto vinyl for temporary display on two walls flanking the Erma Hayman House. Artists must create new, original artwork which could consist of illustration, painting, digital images, textiles, mosaic, photography,  or photographs of original artwork, that is or can be digitized. Artwork should feature one narrative with design that spans two walls.

Artwork will be displayed for a 6-month cycle and up to four (4) artists or artist teams will be selected to implement their design concept.

Applicants should note that their artwork may overlap with America’s 250^th anniversary and may coincide with America 250 themed programming celebrating One Nation, Many Stories.

Location

The Erma Hayman House features a retaining wall with two end caps, Wall A and Wall B, that will host the selected artists’ artworks. Artwork should feature one narrative with design that spans both walls. Wall A is approximately 97x220”, and Wall B is approximately 76x221”. Selected artists will be provided a design template for both walls.

Eligibility

This opportunity is limited to current Idaho residents. Applicants must be 18 years or older.
