Metamorphosis: Through the Northwest Passage is a series of color photographs taken by Boise artist and writer Ruth Wright. A study of John Mason's sculpture, Point of Origin, the series was captured before the sculpture was removed from City Hall Plaza and later relocated to its current home outside the Boise Art Museum. Of her process Wright says, "For two years I studied the piece, three large rectangles framed images of our town's problems and change: smog destroying our health, history erased, parking lots erected instead; then slow rebuilding."

Artist Statement: My art is an expression of personal concern from controversy, humor, human dilemma, soul searching and experience. I hope that my work is universal enough that others may respond to it in their own personal way, find menaing and significance of their own through my work.

The Boise Visual Chronicle (BVC) is a city-owned collection of paintings, drawings, prints, photographs and other works depicting life in Boise. The collection provides a rich visual document of Boise’s changing landscape, people and perspectives. The BVC also forms a unique portrait of the artistic vitality and evolving perceptions of artists in the region. With original funding from the Greater Boise Auditorium District, additional works are acquired or commissioned and funded by Boise City and Capital City Development Corporation (CCDC). Works from the collection are exhibited at the Boise Centre on the Grove, Boise City Hall, CCDC’s offices and the Boise Airport.
